Butter Biscuits

Ingredients:

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 tablespoon baking powder

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes

– 3/4 cup cold whole milk

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. Pour in the cold milk and stir just until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.

5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it 3-4 times to bring it together.

6. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle.

7. Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

8. Gather any scraps, pat together, and cut additional biscuits.

9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

10. Remove from oven and serve warm with butter, honey, or jam.
