Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
Ingredients
2 cups 480 ml heavy cream
1 cup 240 ml whole milk
¾ cup 150 g sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean
A pinch of salt
Instructions
In a large bowl whisk together the milk sugar vanilla and salt until the sugar is completely dissolved Add the heavy cream and mix until fully combined Pour the mixture into a freezer safe container cover and place in the freezer for about 2 hours
After 2 hours stir or whisk the mixture to break up any ice crystals Return it to the freezer and repeat this process 2–3 times every 30 minutes until the ice cream becomes thick and smooth Freeze fully for at least 6 hours or overnight
Scoop and serve plain or with toppings such as chocolate syrup caramel or crushed cookies
Optional Ice Cream Maker Method
Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer instructions usually for 20–25 minutes then freeze until firm
