Every House Had Rules About It

You weren’t always allowed to sit on it.

In some homes, it was “for guests only.”
In others, it belonged to Dad — especially after dinner, when the TV was on and the room was quiet except for the sound of a ticking clock.

Kids learned quickly:
You could sit on it carefully.
You could put your feet on it sometimes.
But jumping on it? That was absolutely forbidden.

And yet… almost every child tried at least once.
