Since that flight, I’ve practiced saying no without explaining. Choosing silence without guilt. Leaving conversations that exhaust me. And surprisingly, I’ve become more kind, not less. Because what I give now is honest.

I still think about that stranger sometimes. I don’t know his name or where he was headed. But I carry his words with me—in meetings, in relationships, in everyday interactions where I once overextended myself.

A single comment, exchanged between takeoff and landing, changed how I move through the world.
